Inside Out was an huge hit worldwide in 2015. It covered the topic of mental health with a beautiful concept. One of the best thing about this movies was that adults and children both can enjoy this movie in their respective ways. This movie received an eight-minute standing ovation after its premier at the Cannes Film Festival. We recently decided to take a look at 12 Interesting Facts About Inside Out!, so enjoy the article and tell us about your experience about it…

1. Inside Out had several different titles before finalizing Inside Out. Like- Joyless, Out of our Mind, Trouble in Mind, HeadQuarters, Life of Riley, and Down in the Dumps. Pixar animator Matt Jones even suggested the title “Joy Story” similar to Toy Story.

2. There were 27 different emotions considered for the movie. The final five were Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust and Fear. They considered Pride, Schadenfreude, Love, Hope, and Surprise. Ones that almost made the cut were Surprise, Trust and Pride.

3. The personalities of the five emotions were inspired by Snow White’s seven dwarfs.

4. Joy was initially supposed to be paired with Fear instead of Sadness.

5. Each emotion resembles a different shape. Joy is based on a star, Sadness is a teardrop, Anger is a brick, Disgust looks like broccoli, and Fear is apparently a raw nerve. As you can  see in this image below, when Joy, Sadness and Bing-Bong turns into abstract.

6. Many psychology experts were involved in the making of the movie. The writers really wanted to make sure they got certain aspects scientifically accurate. i.e, when Riley’s short-term memories were converted into long-term memories while she is asleep, this is actually happen in real life or believe to be.

7. Mary Gibbs, the voice of Boo in Monsters, Inc. gets credit in Inside Out because clips of her voice are taken from Boo and used for Riley’s voice as a toddler. Their moments and body shapes are also quite similar, even the hair band.

8. It took 4 years to complete this movie and Kaitlyn Dias was hired to be the voice of Riley when she was 11 years old. Her voice had significantly deepened during recording, so she had to adjust the tone herself to make it seem like she was still a child.

9. Unlike the other characters, due to her bright personality, Joy doesn’t have a shadow unless she turned into an abstract.

10. When Joy and Sadness are passing through Imagination Land, a board game called “Find Me”, you can clearly see Finding Nemo cartoon on box. Also Dinosaur World box was said to be the Easter-egg of ‘The Good Dinosaur’

11. Disgust was originally supposed to be a male character, but that was changed when the creators decided that Mindy Kaling would be perfect for the role.

13. Female chef Colette Tatou, from Ratatouille (2007) also made an appearance,  she is on the cover of a magazine.

14.  Every brain has its own chief of emotions like Riley’s chief emotion is Joy, Mom’s is Sadness, and Dad’s is Anger.

15. This movie featured only about 45 animators, about half as many as any previous Pixar films.

6. The character Lots-o’-Huggin Bear was supposed to appear in first Toy Story but Pixar didn’t have the technology to animate his fur this realistically, until Toy Story 3.


7. While Pixar was working on Toy Story 2, an employee accidentally deleted it, not only once but Twice all the work they had done on the film. Luckily, one pregnant animator had a copy of the data on her home computer so she could work on the movie while caring for her new baby.
